Quick Answer
SOVRA is a parent brand, and BidNet Direct is one product under it. The BidNet Direct name was kept, so this is not a rename and there is no evidence it was a merger.
- SOVRA’s own site lists four products: Bidnet Direct, Merx, Ontopical, and Pinpoint Analytics.
- bidnetdirect.com was live and serving its pricing page on August 26, 2026.
- Agency records name the entity as International Data Base Corp. dba BidNet, in Augusta, Georgia’s June 23, 2026 agenda.
- Camden, New Jersey’s June 2026 resolution calls the same product SOVRA eProcurement. Both labels are in use.
If you just saw an unfamiliar company name on an invoice or a login screen, this page is for you. For the product itself, read Civic IQ’s BidNet Direct review.
Is BidNet Direct still BidNet Direct?
Yes. The product name survived. What sits above it changed.
What changed
The company presents itself as SOVRA now. Its corporate site is sovra.com. That is where the full portfolio lives.
Press material shifted too. One release covers Montezuma County joining the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System. It calls that system one of “Bidnet Direct by SOVRA’s” regional solutions.
What did not change
This is the part most suppliers need. On the public record, four things held steady.
- The website. bidnetdirect.com was live on August 26, 2026 and served its full vendor pricing page.
- The product name. Still BidNet Direct, in marketing and in agency contracts.
- The pricing structure. $0, $599, $1,199 and $1,999 a year, as covered in our BidNet Direct pricing breakdown.
- The regional groups. Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing and MITN Purchasing Group both still operate under their own names.
What your paperwork might say
Expect inconsistency. Agencies are inconsistent too. Two 2026 contracts for the same platform used different names.
Augusta, Georgia wrote “BidNet Direct by SOVRA” and named the vendor as International Data Base Corp. dba BidNet. Camden, New Jersey wrote “SOVRA eProcurement software” and named Carahsoft as the contracting party.
Same platform, three names, two cities, one month apart. If your invoice looks unfamiliar, that is why.
What is SOVRA?
A procurement technology brand with several products. It serves government buyers on one side and suppliers on the other.

What sits under the SOVRA brand
Its own navigation lists four products.
- Bidnet Direct. The US state and local bid distribution platform most suppliers know.
- Merx. The Canadian side of the portfolio.
- Ontopical. Listed alongside the others in the supplier navigation.
- Pinpoint Analytics. The analytics product sold as a $499 a year add-on to construction bidders.
Note the Canadian arm. Do you sell only to US state and local agencies? Then part of that portfolio is not aimed at you.
Was it a merger?
We could not verify that, and we are not going to repeat it. At least one review site calls it a merger.
The primary sources show a multi-product portfolio under one brand. The same corporate entity is still named in agency contracts. That fits a brand consolidation. It proves no transaction.
Need the legal detail for a contract file? Ask your account manager in writing. Do not take it from a review site. Do not take it from us.
Does this change anything for suppliers?
On the public record, no. Your login, your plan, and your saved searches sit where they always did.
The pricing page on August 26, 2026 showed the same four tiers. The free Basic tier still covers member agency bids. Category codes and daily match emails work as before.
One caution. Only your own renewal notice is authoritative. Read it. Do not trust a general article, including this one.
Does this change anything for agencies?
Agencies kept buying it straight through the change, which is the strongest signal available.
In June 2026 alone, Augusta approved a three-year program starting at $69,000. Camden committed up to $50,224 through 2029. Royal Oak, Michigan approved a master services agreement with training. A Missouri school district renewed for three more years.
Purchasing groups carried on as well. Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District in Colorado directed its manager to post a solicitation on the platform on June 9, 2026.
Source for all of the above: agency meeting records indexed by Civic IQ, pulled August 26, 2026.
What should you watch next?
Consolidation, and what it does to your leverage at renewal.
A portfolio brand tends to sell across itself. The $499 analytics add-on already does that. It pushes one product to buyers of another. Expect more bundles, and expect them at renewal.
The practical response is unglamorous. Know which states you bid in. Know your renewal date. Price each add-on against a bid it would have won you.

Frequently asked questions
Is BidNet Direct part of SOVRA?
Yes. SOVRA is the parent brand and BidNet Direct is one product under it, alongside Merx, Ontopical, and Pinpoint Analytics. BidNet Direct kept its own name and its own website. Its press releases now read Bidnet Direct by SOVRA.
Did BidNet Direct change its name to SOVRA?
No. The product name was retained. SOVRA is the company brand sitting above several products. Calling it a rename is the most common mistake in coverage of this change.
Was the SOVRA change a merger?
Civic IQ found no evidence of a merger in primary sources. At least one review site describes it that way, but SOVRA’s own site presents a multi-product portfolio under one brand, and agency contracts still name the same corporate entity. Treat merger language as unverified.
Is bidnetdirect.com still the right website?
Yes. Civic IQ loaded bidnetdirect.com on August 26, 2026 and it served the full vendor pricing page. The site sovra.com is a separate corporate site covering the wider portfolio.
What is the corporate entity behind BidNet Direct?
Public agency records name it as International Data Base Corp. dba BidNet. That appears in the City of Augusta, Georgia commission agenda dated June 23, 2026, alongside Carahsoft Technology Corp. as the contracting reseller.
Did my BidNet Direct subscription change?
Nothing in the public record indicates supplier plans changed with the brand. The pricing page on August 26, 2026 showed the same tier structure at $0, $599, $1,199 and $1,999 a year. Check your own renewal notice, since only your invoice is authoritative for your account.
Is Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing still BidNet?
Yes. Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing is the Colorado regional purchasing group operated on the platform. A 2026 press release on bidnetdirect.com announcing Montezuma County joining it describes the system as one of Bidnet Direct by SOVRA’s regional e-procurement solutions.
