On July 2, 2026 the City Council is considering an ordinance to amend the FY 2025-2026 budget to allocate 2,127,425 from the Economic Development Fund balance for purchase of a 2.67-acre parcel at 5790 S I-35E. The Corinth Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) will assume an existing real estate purchase contract between Michael Lane and Great Texas Foods, Inc., acquiring the land as part of an economic development project in Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2 (TIRZ #2). TIRZ #2, Denton County, and the City have already approved a reimbursement structure under which TIRZ #2 will repay 1,063,712.50—half the acquisition cost—over five equal annual installments. Following closing, the site will be used as an economic development incentive in a planned Chapter 380 agreement with Michael Lane/Blue Plate for development of “Miguel’s,” an approximately 11,000-square-foot restaurant with 26,000 square feet of outdoor dining. This is a significant commercial capital project intended to drive sales tax revenue and create a destination venue along I-35. While the land purchase and reimbursement mechanism are decided, vendors in architecture, engineering, construction, outdoor amenity design, FF&E, technology, parking and circulation planning, and hospitality operations support have a strong opening for follow-on work as the restaurant and surrounding infrastructure are designed and built.
